Ruddock announces ALRC Review of Privacy Legislation
Commonwealth Attorney General Phillip Ruddock has announced a comprehensive review of Australia's privacy laws to be undertaken by the Australian Law Reform Commission. The proposed review follows reviews last year by the Federal Privacy Commissioner and a Senate Committee which both called for a more comprehensive examination of the issue. Those hoping for any quick changes to the complex, overlapping and inadequate privacy laws currently in place will be disappointed that the review is not scheduled to be completed until March 2008!
