Bernard Keane in Crikey today hails the release of a "truckload of documents" by the Department of Immigration for providing a glimpse of the yet to be legislated new era of open government in Canberra. The Department deserves congratulations for "getting with it" but I'd hold judgment for a moment or two about how widely the message has travelled, and how it has been received. The best indicators might be any shift in attitude in Treasury and Defence.
