If you're interested in the state of play regarding the development of electronic health and medical records in Australia, dash out and grab a copy of today's Australian Financial Review. Its front page article "Electronic health records scheme on critical list" is a detailed report on developments nationally, and in the states. Its not a happy story - delays, cost overruns, bureaucratic infighting, legal disputes and funding issues all feature.
In a separate article the AFR reports that Queensland is proceeding with its driver's license smartcard. The license with microchip is to be introduced in 2008.
The AFR website which provides very limited free content in any event, lists the articles here but at this stage they are not accessable.
