Just to give a bit of perspective about FOI history, the 24th anniversary of the Commonwealth FOI Act (see below) should be noted in conjunction with the 240th anniversary this year of the world's first access to information act in Finland-Sweden in 1766. For real history buffs, this anniversary publication by the Anders Chydenius Foundation gives an insight into the original thinking that led to FOI acts, now in place in over 60 countries around the world, and includes some comment on current challenges.
