The Federal Crimes Act and Allan Kessing
Don't miss Allan Kessing tonight in the second program in the Law and Disorder series on SBS television at 8.30 PM (AEDT) , even if you are familiar with the story. It's likely to be uncomfortable but compelling viewing about Kessing's conviction for breach of Section 70 of the Crimes Act following a leak which brought to attention information about a matter of grave national significance. Kessing says the leak was not attributable to him. See what has and hasn't happened since.
Just watched "The Reluctant Whistleblower" Hang in there Allan: "A lie can be halfway around the world whilst the truth is still putting it's boots on, but it will beat the lie home!"

So did I-Kessing stands tall, but what a story, and what injustice. If leaker now stepped forward you would have to think prosecution would be unlikely, but righting the wrongs to Kessing would then follow. The program was a tribute to a brave and principled man.
ReplyDeleteJohn Howard and his cohorts, in his office and across at the AFP, should hang their heads in shame for pursuing a man to the end – all for something he didn’t do – and all without proper reason.
